september fresh comfort for ME!

So it is finally my month in my online quilting bee, Fresh Comfort. I am so excited for this quilt! I embroidered the center blocks with a pattern that I have for the nativity and sent everyone packets with every red and white print that I have. When I get them back I am going to alternate the embroidery blocks with log cabin blocks to make a Christmas quilt. I am hoping to be able to get it done for this Christmas, but we'll see.

lake powell and elmer's glue

Mom, you should be happy to see this post! I finally got around to working on the Lake Powell project of 2009! I am now about half way done with this never ending project :)

I got a package of goodies in the mail from BzzAgent filled with goodies from Elmer's Glue and it was just the push I needed to get this project out again. I used the Elmer's CraftBond Permanent Tape Runner for most of these pages, but I also used the Clear Glue Pen, All-Purpose Glue Stick and the Glue Spots.

I used the glue stick when I needed to cover the chipboard shapes. It worked great for easy coverage. It held up well even when I used sandpaper to rough up the edges.

The glue pen was great for the chipboard embellishments. It held great and nothing is falling off. It did not work so well on the metal circle that I used and I had to go back and put some glue spots on it. I also used the glue spots for the buttons. They are so easy to use and I loved the medium pop up spots for adding dimension to the cardstock sun.

Note: I was provided with the adhesives at no charge from BzzAgent, but I was not paid for my opinions.

vintage zig zag

I have had a love/hate relationship with this quilt. I love zig zag quilts and I thought it would be great to make one with vintage sheets. For the white stripes I used sheets with only small, spread out designs to give it a little interest.

I started to hate it when I was machine quilting straight lines. I quilted 1/4" on either side of the zigs and it took for.ev.er. All that stopping and pivoting dragged out the process a lot. But, now that it is bound, washed and all crinkly I love it again.

It is for sale in my shop.

September Fresh Comfort 2 blocks for Jaclyn

I hope these are what Jaclyn had in mind. I am not a fan of circle piecing, but this method definitely helps a lot!

Pink Lemonade

I don't usually name my quilts, but the pattern for this one is called "Lemon Squares" and the fabric I used reminds me of Pink Lemonade. I used some vintage linens and a cotton solid (kona snow) for the sashing.

I was originally going to give this to whichever sister I drew for Christmas, unfortunately my sewing machine had major tension issues and the back is a hot mess. So, I finally get a quilt of my own. It has found it's new home on my couch :)
