fall tablerunner

Ok, so I know it is only January, but my Grandma requested a fall/Thanksgiving table runner and here it is. Of course, it is extra long to fit her table, 22" x 90".

It is a variation on the pattern that I used for this quilt. I really like how it turned out, fall-ish without screaming pumpkins and leaves. I hope she loves it, she told me more than once that Thanksgiving is her favorite holiday and she wanted a table runner that she could keep on the table for the whole season.

I added a little hand-stitched label to the back.

january fresh comfort 2

For January, Balinda asked for square-in-square eye spy blocks. They will be part of a quilt that will live at her family's cabin. While these blocks are a bit tedious for my taste, they were not difficult and I think she is going to have one crazy, fun quilt when she is done!

january bee vintage

I joined another virtual quilting bee. This one is called Bee Vintage and is inspired by all the lovely vintage sheets around that are becoming popular to use. Each month the recipient chooses a design and we each make 1 or 2 blocks out of our own stash. I am coming to this bee in the middle because they had a member drop out, but I am very excited to get going.

For the month of January, Nikki asked for wonky stars with a white background. She didn't have a preference for colors, just that they were bright. I am pretty sure that these 2 blocks qualify. I hope she likes them and I can't wait to see her finished quilt.

Now, I just have to decide what I want for my month. There are so many choices, but I have until July to decide :)

another year-long project

I am making a second set of the Birdie Stitches Block of the Month. This set will be made into pillow covers. I am using vintage sheets for the borders and the backing. I can't wait to have a whole set of pillows to decorate my house! I am also entering this pillow in the Blogger's Pillow Party for January!

For her month, Sorrel requested blocks that will actually become place mats. Her fabric was beautiful and she wanted something that was simple, geometric with lots of white. I think this fits the bill.

2010 handmade christmas - nephew

I was organizing my photos from last year and realized that I hadn't posted about this quilt yet! I used Amanda Jean's quilt-a-long pattern and just made it into a baby sized quilt. I used Moda Pure fabrics for this one and I love how it turned out. I can't wait to meet the new nephew that this quilt belongs to!

first project of 2011

I am super excited about this quilt. It is a block of the month project. Each month Little Miss Shabby posts a new pattern for the embroidery and at the end of the year I will have a whole quilt done! I have decided to use my stash of vintage sheets for this one and have already made all the blocks. They are just waiting for the cute embroidery each month.

Little Miss Shabby has featured my block here!

2010 handmade christmas - jen

I drew my sister Jen for Christmas this year, I think that makes it three years in a row now. She asked for a new table runner to match her newly decorated kitchen. I forgot to take pictures before I sent it off, but luckily she was able to take a couple of pics with the table runner in action. She said it matched her decor perfectly!
